One of the vehicles was from Valley Haven School in Chambers County. The school, operated by The Arc of Chattahoochee Valley, provides education, training, special instruction, and other services for people ranging in age from pre-school to adult who are intellectually disabled and/or developmentally delayed.
Lee County Coroner Daniel Sexton said two people were pronounced dead on the scene. Several others were injured. He identified the fatality victims as Corbin Hamby Jr., 49, of Salem, who was a passenger on the Valley Haven bus, and Tyrone Williams, 53, of Opelika, who was the driver of a Ford F-150. Alabama State Troopers are leading the accident investigation.
