The man and woman in their 20s were in a vehicle fleeing a drag racing scene in Detroit.
It happened just after midnight on Tuesday, June 28, in the area of John Cronk and Central streets in southwest Detroit, the report said. Detroit police officers were clearing a drag racing and drifting scene nearby and vehicles were fleeing in every direction; this was one of those vehicles. However, officers were not chasing the vehicle.
A Wixom man and Novi woman were in the vehicle, and both died as a result of the impact with the train.White said his department will continue “relentless” enforcement against drag racing and drifting in the city.
