2 dead, 1 seriously injured after SUV driver hits pedestrians north Harris County

Two people were killed and another injured early Friday when a vehicle hit them while they were walking along a road in north Harris County. Deputies around 12:45 a.m. responded to a report of a crash along Rankin Road, officials told Metro Video Services reporters. Two people were dead at the scene and a third was taken to the hospital in serious condition.Witnesses told investigators the three people had been walking along the side of the road because there was no sidewalk when an SUV came around the corner and struck them, officials said. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and spoke with investigators.
Detectives early Friday were looking into whether the driver might have been intoxicated, officials said.
