Goldberg and Reali first sent a letter to Celebrezze asking her to resign in late June, after The Marshall Project - Cleveland published a story about Celebrezze’s actions in a contentious divorce case. Celebrezze assigned the case to herself after Jones recused herself. Celebrezze approved hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees for the receiver Jones had already appointed to the case, Mark Dottore.
“Our judiciary must zealously protect its role as a fair, impartial and ethical tribunal to maintain the public trust and for the administrative judge to administer specific duties in compliance with Ohio Rules of Superintendence, Rule 4.01,” the judges wrote. “Let us be clear, we are not alleging any wrongdoing,” the judges wrote. “Rather, our request is motivated by a desire to alleviate even the appearance of any impropriety. Our judiciary must zealously protect its role as a fair, impartial, and ethical tribunal to maintain the public trust.
