Michael Fassbender hasn't been in a single movie since 2019's X-Men: Dark Phoenix, but November could mark a historical Hollywood comeback.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Michael Fassbender hasn't had a successful movie in years, but in Winter 2023, he could have two in a row. The German-Irish actor's breakthrough project was all the way back in 2001 when he starred in the HBO series Band of Brothers, but following his first major movie role in 2007's 300, Fassbender became one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood.

Unfortunately, Fassbender's career slowed down after a few bad choices. Not only were the last two X-Men movies badly received, but the video game movie Assassin's Creed, romantic drama Song to Song, and psychological thriller The Snowman, all of which were released one after another, had overwhelmingly negative receptions. The actor's last box office hit was X-Men Apocalypse, but that still wasn't a critical success.

Michael Fassbender Stars In Two Big Movies In November Netflix will release The Killer on November 11. The Fassbender-starring psychological thriller is also notable for being celebrated director David Fincher's return to the thriller genre. In that respect, The Killer will be a huge event movie for the streamer. Just one week later, the Fassbender-starring Next Goal Wins, directed by the Academy Award-winning Taika Waititi, will be released too.

It's likely that Netflix won't be giving The Killer a theatrical release outside of a limited screening in Los Angeles so it can compete for awards, so the two studios don't have to compete with each other at the box office. In that respect, it'd be a win-win situation for both studios, and it'd make Fassbender's return even more historical. Netflix would only have to delay the release date by a week.

Where Has Michael Fassbender Been? It isn't the actor's string of flops that are to blame for his absence in the current cinema landscape, and the reason for not being in any movies in the past four years was Fassbender's choice. Though Fassbender didn't retire from acting, he put acting on the back burner and prioritized motor racing. Fassbender started racing in 2017 and finished 15th in the Ferrari Challenge's Coppa Shell class.
