Two Birmingham-based companies have made Fortune’s annual list of the nation’s largest corporations.

Regions Financial and Vulcan Materials were part of the 2023 ranking, which groups companies by revenue from the 2022 fiscal year.

The revenue threshold for making the Fortune 500 list was $7.2 billion this year, up 13% from a year ago.In total, Fortune 500 companies represent two-thirds of the U.S. gross domestic product, with $18 trillion in revenues, which was up 13%. Profits among the company were down 15% from 2021, the second time in the past three years that saw a decline.At 483 is Regions Financial, with more than 20,000 employees and $7.5 billion in revenue.
