Manchester United and Manchester City clash today, but who has spent more over the last decade? MUFC MCFC
A billion spent by Manchester United and they still trail Man City but huge Manchester derby could see Premier League power shiftManchester United and Manchester City will clash this Saturday but who has spent more over the last decade?, is seismic for both clubs in a rollercoaster season in the Premier League.United are looking to solidify a top-four place while they have been in fine form in recent weeks under Erik ten Hag while a win would see them go a point behind Pep Guardiola’s men.
Outgoing, Dimitar Berbatov joined Fulham, Park Ji-sung moved to QPR and Ritchie De Laet and Matty James signed for Leicester in a double deal worth £2m.City, on the other hand, did not make many smart decisions in the transfer window after signing Javi Garcia , Matija Nastasic , Jack Rodwell , Scott Sinclair and Maicon , though they still managed to finish second.
There were not many big departures, though, with just Garcia and Rodwell leaving for a combined fee of £25m.City net spend: £111m Mourinho was always going to make some noise and it led to the departures of Scheniderlin and Depay for a combined £40m, while Paddy McNair also joined Sunderland for £5m.City were hardly pulling up trees despite the arrival of Pep Guardiola, who made some huge signings including John Stones , Leroy Sane , Gabriel Jesus llkay Gundogan , Claudio Bravo , Nolito while Jovetic , Edin Dzeko and Geronimo Rulli all left.
It was yet another disappointing season for United as they faltered to sixth while the money tree wilted somewhat in the summer after just two major signings in the shape of Fred and Diogo Dalot .City continued to dominate, winning the Premier League again and making just one major signing after Riyad Mahrez joined from Leicester for £60m.
Torres left for £45m to Barcelona as well as Angelino , Jack Harrison and Lukas Nmecha to boost the coffers somewhat at the Etihad.City net spend: -£15m
