Extra capacity will help the NHS in England tackle emergency care delays, the prime minister says.

The government believes the measures, which will be introduced from April, will help the NHS to start getting closer to its waiting time targets.76% of A&E patients will be dealt with in four hours. Currently fewer than 70% are. The official target is 95%

Alongside the investment in beds and ambulances, the plan will also see some of the measures taken over the past year expanded further. Every day more than half of people ready to be discharged from hospital cannot be because of a lack of support in the community.Last updated: Thursday 26 JanuaryData for England is shown by NHS trust, where the trust includes at least one hospital with a Type 1 A&E department. Type 1 means a consultant-led 24 hour A&E service with full resuscitation facilities. Data for Wales and Scotland is shown by Health Board and in Northern Ireland by Health and Social Care Trust.

Each nation has different target times for some of the measures shown, therefore comparisons between them may not be possible.
