A 19-year-old man was shot multiple times and injured in unincorporated Kankakee County Monday evening. Police were called to a home in the 2500 block of West Route 17 around 8:30 p.m. in response to a call of shots fired, according to the Kankakee County Sheriff's Office. Deputies found the teen who lived at the home with multiple gunshot wounds and tried to treat him until paramedics arrived.
Police said the victim was 'extremely uncooperative' with the deputies on the scene and refused to give any information about the shooting. Still, deputies had no reason to believe that the shooting was a random act of violence. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the incident. No one was in custody in connection with the shooting. It was unclear exactly what led to the shooting.
