Seattle police are investigating a shooting early Sunday morning in the North Beacon Hill neighborhood that left an 18-year-old woman seriously injured.Police r

Seattle police are investigating a shooting early Sunday morning in the North Beacon Hill neighborhood that left an 18-year-old woman seriously injured. Police responded at about 5:58 a.m. to reports of a shooting near the 1700 block of South State Street.

Officers arrived and found evidence of gunfire at the scene. Shortly afterward, the 18-year-old woman arrived at Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg. She remains in stable but serious condition, police said. Investigators determined several young adults were attending a gathering at a home when an unidentified man arrived in a car.

Police said the suspect got into an altercation outside with the victim shortly before the shooting, then left the area before officers arrived. Two people loaded the victim into a car and drove her to the hospitalDetectives with the Seattle Police Department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit are leading the investigation and working to determine what led to the shooting.
