One of the suspects prosecutors believe is behind the death of a 13-year-old boy in Kent faced a judge on Monday.
Faysal Abdulahi , 18, pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and first-degree robbery at his arraignment on Aug. 5, 2024. According to court documents , Stavkovy was fatally shot during an attempted armed robbery. Stavkovy and his friends went to Turnkey Park to sell a camera, where they were all held at gunpoint before the shooting ensued.
Court documents state one of Stavkovy’s friends agreed to sell the camera via an OfferUp advertisement. After a gun was pulled, Stavkovy and another of his friends ran towards an ATV they took to the park to try and flee the area. As Stavkovy got onto the ATV with his friend, court documents say a single shot was heard and Stavkovy told his friend that he had been shot.The two then drove off and sought help from several people outside of Kentwood Apartments, according to court documents.
First responders arrived at the scene and found Stavkovy had been shot in the back. Crews gave the 13-year-old first aid, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
