18-year-old charged for 2nd Degree Murder

The Tucson Police Department has identified 18-year-old Antonio Dario Varela as the suspect in the fatal shooting that left 25-year-old Francisco Javier Espriu dead.

After interviews and a search warrant detectives have charged Antonio Varela with 2nd Degree Murder.Tucson police are looking into a deadly shooting outside a convenience store near South Park Avenue.Various 911 calls were reported in regard to a shooting and an unresponsive man outside 4875 S. Park Ave.Espriu was pronounced dead on the scene. His next of kin was notified.

According to the TPD, Espriu was in a verbal confrontation with unknown individuals prior to the shooting which then turned physical and led to Espriu being shot.Bivian Contreras is a real-time editor for KGUN 9.
