: The Health Ministry today announced that there are 172 new cases that were found positive with the novel coronavirus , making the total number of positive cases at 1,796, as of 12pm today.

However, he also said 16 cases have since recovered and have been discharged from the hospital, making the total number of cases that have been discharged and recovered from Covid-19 at 199. The 17th death is a 66-year-old man who had a history of chronic illness and was suspected to be in close contact with a positive Covid-19 case. He was treated at Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah, Johor on March 20. His health deteriorated and he was given ventilation at the ICU before he was pronounced dead on March 25, 4.10am.
