On Wednesday, both sides gave testimony at the Manchester Township Zoning Board hearing.He says he knew that 52 acres of the land had been subdivided and sold to a developer but was unaware that the area was rezoned as Industrial. “So, we’re challenging that that zoning is spot zoning because it does not fit with any of the surrounding parcels,” said Seyler. During the hearing, he testified that one of his worries is about future finances, saying that the possible air and noise pollution from a warehouse could cause people not to purchase burial plots.He commented, “People want to come here and honor their loved ones here and with a warehouse or some sort of Industrial site it just destroys the peacefulness of the cemetery.” There are thousands of burial plots at the cemetery, many of them veterans and residents are concerned about future events honoring them. Harry Long, a Manchester Township resident explained, “My oldest brother is being named part of the Court of Valor next year at the towers. You think I want to stand up there during the ceremony and look at a warehouse? No.” Meanwhile, Jeff Inch, the owner of Inch and Company, says having the property be an industrial site could provide between 40 and 400 jobs and would provide easy access to those in the city. “It’s a perfect spot by 83 and 30 that just seems fit for an industrial site, so we’re super excited about developing the property, working with all adjacent properties to make sure that we give correct buffers and make as minimal impact on the community as possible,” said Inch.
