A 17-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized after officials said he was struck by a truck in Lehi.

City officials said the teenager was driving eastbound on the sidewalk near 1555 North at approximately 3:20 p.m. on Saturday.Juvenile sustains serious head trauma after falling out of moving vehicle in Spanish ForkHe was transported to Primary Children’s in Lehi, and officials said "it does not look like he is expected to survive."
According to a city spokesperson, motorcycles are typically not permitted on sidewalks, but they were not initially sure of the rules in the area of the collision because it happened in a private HOA neighborhood. They said speed may have been a factor in the crash, adding that the motorcycle was a homemade model, not something normally manufactured.
Officials are still looking into whether the teenager had an obstructed view or why he went into the road.
