A 17-year-old was killed and two others were injured in an attempted robbery shooting in Fort Worth, Texas. Police are investigating the incident.
Fort Worth police are investigating an attempted robbery and shooting that left a 17-year-old dead on the city’s north side. The shooting happened around 3 p.m. on Tuesday on Berrenda Drive, which is west of Interstate 35 near the border with Saginaw.Police confirmed one person was killed. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office identified him as 17-year-old Jaqualin Houston. Two other people were taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.
Detectives are reportedly working the case as an attempted robbery where both the victim and the suspects were shot during the course of the robbery.Police have not said anything about the circumstances surrounding the robbery, but the 17-year-old's body was found a few blocks away from the shooting scene.It's unclear how he got there, whether he ran or was dropped off or something else. The shooting happened in front of Amanda Fisher's family's home while they were eating. 'And then I heard like three bangs,' she said.She said she rushed outside and saw someone at the nearby West Fork Ranch Park who caught her attention. 'And we didn't see anything, but we did see like one person run across the park,' she said. 'We aren't exactly sure what happened.'Fischer said it is common to see kids hanging out in the neighborhood park. 'I mean, you see teenagers at the park and, you know, you think they're just being teenagers, you know, just messing around,' she said.Fischer's parents cannot help but think of the parents and families of the teen who was killed and the others injured. 'I mean, it's a tragedy any other day but especially around the holidays,' Thomas Fischer said. 'It'll affect everybody and their family forever,' Barbara Fischer said. Police said they are still in the process of interviewing everyone involved.No arrests have been made
