A 17-year-old girl was hospitalized after being shot in the leg near Garfield High School Wednesday afternoon.

Seattle Police Department first posted on XThe teenage girl was taken to Harborview Medical Center shortly after the incident, according to the SPD. The Seattle Fire Department reported the teenager to be in stable condition.
What led to the shooting is unclear. Police said Garfield High School, Nova High School, and Washington Middle School all sheltered in place while police conducted their investigation. KOMO News confirmed the 17-year-old victim is a student at nearby Garfield High School. Police are currently unsure whether the shooting was targeted or random.The SPD is urging anyone with any knowledge of the incident
