16-year-old cancer survivor and Miss Teen of SA finalist shares story of hope and resilience
"I am a brave, confident and strong young lady. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma and felt my world came to what felt like a sudden halt. Six months later, I overcame my giant and found my purpose within my journey. I was made to empower and inspire young girls," says Aimee.
"Being a cancer survivor, I want to teach young girls to turn their pain into their power. I want them to remember that beauty comes from within, and we all have a purpose beyond ourselves." The teenager from Cape Town says she hopes to use her platform to"share my story and give others hope that whatever they are facing, they can overcome it."
"I am not the cancer, and it does not define who I am as a young woman. This journey is but only a part of my story, and I know that as I am destined for great things, so are you," she goes on to say. The Miss Teen of South Africa grand finale takes place on 9 October at the Premier Hotel Roodevalley in Pretoria.
