A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side Sunday evening, police said.
Shortly after 6 p.m., the boy was standing near a parking lot in the 5900 block of South Indiana Avenue when he was struck by gunshots to the abdomen.Paramedics took the boy to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, where he died from his injuries at 7:09 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was later identified as Tyshawn Crawford, address unknown, according to information from the medical examiner’s office.
