An Akron teenager was arrested on weapons charges after he exchanged gunshots with a suspect Thursday on Opportunity Parkway, according to police.
Akron police arrested a 16-year-old boy Thursday on weapons charges stemming from a shootout with a person in an SUV.Police responded to reports of gunfire in the 200 block of Opportunity Parkway about 11:50 a.
m. The teen was walking eastbound when an SUV approached him. The teen told officers that a man dressed entirely in black emerged from the vehicle and shot at him. The youth, who had a gun, returned fire, police said. The shooter jumped into the SUV and drove away.He was later transported to Summit County Juvenile Detention Facility, where he faces weapons charges, according to police.Akron police detectives are investigating the incident.
