Cuerden Hall's £15m conversion into Lancashire's grandest private home to take at least five years
One of Chorley’s most striking and historic buildings is set to undergo a major refurbishment which will see it returned to its original use as a prestigious residential property.
Members heard that the man behind the plans, Colin Shenton, intends to make the early 18th century residence his family home and is planning a refurb that “respects the heritage significance of the existing building” and secures its long-term future. A care home operated by neurological charity Sue Ryder occupied the hall until that facility relocated to Preston in 2020. Prior to that the building had been used as offices until the late 1980s.
