Friends of Tony Kronos are offering a $15,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
, are now offering a $15,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his disappearance. Asa Chandler, a childhood friend of Kronos, said the money was raised through both a GoFundMe and a live auction event that was held in the community back in May.
has been discouraging. The group has tried to keep Krono’s story in the public eye, but with no new leads, he says it’s been difficult.“Hopefully will give us a little incentive, anybody that might know something but hasn’t wanted to say anything,” Chandler said. The 40-year-old Kronos was last seen March 6 not far from his Eagle River home. Family members who went to his house to check on him said they found the back door kicked in and Krono’s cell phone and wallet still inside., which belongs to Anchorage Police Officer Chris Sternhagen, who neighbors say was not on good terms with Kronos. Authorities have not said why Sternhagen’s home was searched or what they may have found. Chandler said Kronos may be listed officially as “missing,” but he has no doubt his friend was murdered. “I can’t imagine he is a prisoner somewhere, I definitely don’t think he left on his own,” Chandler added. “He’s not the kind of person who would have ghosted everyone in his life.” Chandler said friends have received zero tips in recent months about what may have happened to Kronos, but Anchorage police say they have gotten some action on a dedicated tip line. When asked about the status of the case, APD spokesperson Chris Barraza replied in an email that are are no new updates on the case. “We have received tips on the dedicated line, but none of them have yielded any information that could help with the case,” Barraza said. “This is still an active case, and our detectives continue to work on it.” When asked about the status of Sternhagen, Barraza wrote that “Officer Sternhagen is still employed with APD, and that is all we will be confirming at this time.”“We’re all just in the dark wondering what happened to Tony,” he said.GRAPHIC: Security footage reveals new details in deadly downtown Anchorage shootingAnchorage woman shot, killed in apparent domestic dispute, police sayWildlife biologist killed in plane crash at Dillingham Airport
