According to Athens Police Chief Anthony Pressnell, the incident happened on Elles Drive around 2:15 p.m. after a caller said a 15-year-old was acting out of control and threatening family members with weapons. Pressnell said when officers arrived at the house, they found a 15-year-old male armed with knives. The 15-year-old reportedly went to various rooms of the house and threw knives at officers.
Officials said the 15-year-old then pointed a rifle at officers and an officer fired their weapon. Pressnell said officers administered first aid before Athens Fire and Athens EMS arrived.
