Nielson, who works at Ruff's but also offers in-home pet sitting on the side, said dog boarding is also best for dogs who are used to visiting dog parks or enjoying an active lifestyle during their everyday life. "Pet sitting, they would take them on a walk, watch the house, make sure they're going potty, but they're not socializing and getting all their energy out and just being a dog," Nielson said.

To board at Ruff's, dogs can book a tour between 9 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. most days of the week to see if they'd be comfortable at the ranch. Dogs can enjoy half-day or full-day doggie daycare or board overnight for an unlimited number of days. Nielson said some dogs have stayed as long as three months.
