A 13-year-old girl was hospitalized with critical injuries after a tree fell on her in the area of Quist Beach at Pineview Reservoir. According to the Weber County Sheriff's Office, the tree fell at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, injuring her and several other children.
A deputy responded to the scene and provided lifesaving care, assisted by family and bystanders. Crews with the Weber Fire District soon arrived and took over. The child was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, but "is not expected to survive her injuries," the sheriff's office said. The sheriff's office is investigating the incident and has extended its sympathies to the child and her family.
"We are thankful for the efforts of our deputies, family, bystanders, and EMS personnel who worked quickly to do everything they could to try to save this juvenile’s life," the sheriff's office said.
