PITTSBURG – A 12-year-old girl was shot during an apparent road-rage incident Friday afternoon in Pittsburg, according to police.
The incident was reported just before 2 p.m., the Pittsburg Police Department said in a statement. Officers arrived to find the girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her right lower leg.The girl was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, according to police. An investigation revealed the girl’s mother was involved in a road-rage incident at Buchanan Road and Harbor Street. Police said a man pulled alongside the mother’s car, pulled out a handgun and fired a single round.The mother drove to a nearby shopping center at Harbor Street and Atlantic Avenue, where she called for help.
Officers interviewed several witnesses and are using a citywide camera system to generate leads, according to police.
