San Francisco Police Department's arson unit is investigating the incidents.

The San Francisco Police Department’s arson unit is investigating fires that were reportedly set to 12 different trash cans along the Embarcadero on Tuesday night.

At 8:16 a.m. on Wednesday, police officers assigned to Central Station on Vallejo Street near Powell Street observed a large trash bin with apparent fire damage along the Embarcadero, a spokesperson for SFPD told SFGATE. The officers then contacted a security manager who told them that 10 large trash cans and two standard trash cans had been damaged overnight. Further investigation conducted by SFPD revealed various calls for service in the area made to the San Francisco Fire Department that night.

The San Francisco Fire Department tweeted Wednesday morning that they'd responded to more than a dozen trash bin fires along the Embarcadero the previous night from 9:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. They added that no suspect description was available. San Francisco Fire responded to over a dozen trash bin fires along the Embarcadero last night from 9:45 PM to 11:45 PM. With no suspect description, these fires are under investigation.
