The Marshall Project, a nonprofit news organisation covering the U.S. criminal justice system, reports that by September 29, at least 138,105 people in prison had tested positive for COVID-19.
In the Snake River Correctional Institution, there were 28 active cases as of October 2, and 416 cases had been reported in total.
The Department of Corrections also reports that 885 adults in its custody have recovered and 11 have died as of October 2. Among its staff, there have been 264 positive cases of coronavirus and 243 recoveries. It reported that all of its inmates have been offered two masks and employees one, and that all staff and adults in custody are expected to wear a mask when six feet of social distancing cannot be maintained.
