BEIJING: Chinese health authorities have received reports of 119 new confirmed Covid-19 cases and 38 deaths on the Chinese mainland.
Four of the 119 new cases were reported yesterday outside Hubei province, the epicentre of the outbreak, down from 890 on Feb 3, said the National Health Commission.
Among the deaths, 37 were in Hubei province and one in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.Wuhan, the provincial capital of Hubei, reported 114 confirmed cases and 31 deaths on Tuesday.A total of 2,652 people were discharged from hospital after recovery yesterday, while the number of severe cases decreased by 390 to 6,416.
The overall confirmed cases on the mainland had reached 80,270 by the end of yesterday, including 27,433 patients who were still being treated, 49,856 who had been discharged after recovery and 2,981 who had died of the disease.It added that 36,432 close contacts were still under medical observation. — China Daily/ANN
