Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed an 11-year-old boy on a sidewalk in West Valley City late Wednesday night.

According to police, the boy and his mother were walking south on 4000 West at about 4200 South at about 11:40 p.m. when a car veered up onto the sidewalk and struck the 11-year-old. The driver did not stop.Few details about the fatality have been released. The vehicle that struck the boy was dark colored, and has front-end damage.
Anyone with information about the fatal collision is asked to call West Valley police at 801-963-3300.
