Police have released a statement after the 'upsetting' incident
Families have been left devastated after eleven pet dogs died following a fire at a private kennels. Firefighters attended the blaze on Saturday morning at the property off The Holloway, Swindon, near Dudley in Staffordshire.
The flames was put out but a number of the animals were found dead inside, Staffordshire Police said. A joint investigation is being carried out by the fire service and police into the cause, which it not thought to be suspicious, The Mirror reports. A police spokesperson said: "We understand that this is an upsetting incident which has caused concern in the community.”
It is the second heartbreaking kennel fire in the UK this summer. In June, five beloved pet dogs died in a fire at a Scottish boarding kennel. Kirkland K9 kennels in Jackton, near East Kilbride, was destroyed. Owner Tom Lang wrote on the company's facebook page: "It is with unbelievable sadness that as a result of a tragic accident in the early hours of this morning at Kirkland K9 our boarding kennels have been destroyed." Tom and the family are devastated. The emergency services have been in attendance. "Once again we would like to thank everyone for their kind words and offers of support.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 5.31am on Saturday, June 3 to reports of a fire in the open at boarding kennels on Eaglesham Road, East Kilbride. "Operations Control immediately mobilised one appliance to the scene and on arrival firefighters found the boarding kennels well alight where a number of dogs were situated."
