Some 200 people have had to leave their homes in the coastal town of Guaruja, Sao Paulo state's civil defence service said in a statement, adding that 4.6 tons of humanitarian aid materials including mattresses, blankets, food and clean water had been provided.
Rainfall in the region over the past 24 hours has exceeded the amount forecast for the entire month of March, local media reported.
The period from December to April is generally the wettest across southern Brazil. Dozens of people have died in flooding and landslides since the beginning of the year.
