For many, Christmas is a time for both celebration and reflection. After 350+ days of the rat race of life, it's a time to spend with loved ones and hyper-focus on what's important in preparation for the year ahead. Just, for the love of God, stick with the original. A 2006 remake upped the gore to a vomitous level while beating the original's tight story with a stupid stick. The 2019 remake was somehow worse, ineptly bringing unconvincing and half-hearted messages of empowerment on board along with a supernatural element that couldn't be more poorly executed. It's one of the worst movies you'll ever see in your life, if you make that decision.
The late Curtis Hanson is one of the more underrated filmmakers of his generation, a director who explored many genres. His other great films include the rap musical 8 Mile and the wildly underrated drama film In Her Shoes. L.A Confidential is a great Christmas film and a flawlessly executed film noir.L.A.
