Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano announced on Wednesday (July 22) that all the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients infected at a construction site in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Barangay Fort Bonifacio and two areas in Bgy. Lower Bicutan have recovered.
Cayetano said 506 total cases — 394 COVID-19 cases at the construction site and 112 cases in Dalampasigan Area in Purok 5, and Mauling Creek, I. Reyes and Barangay Street in Purok 6 — have been cleared by the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit.
“The Taguig City government is pleased to report 506 recoveries among the COVID-19 cases in the two areas in the city where a localized quarantine was declared. None of the cases resulted in death, although the localized quarantine will still be in effect in these areas until the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit declares these as cleared,” he said.
He said the 100 percent recovery rate in the two barangays “proves that the implementation of a localized quarantine is effective in isolating the virus without compromising economic recovery. We will continue to refine and perfect this to effectively contain the virus in the city.” On July 21, Taguig recorded 62 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 1,836. Bgy. Bagumbayan recorded 56 new cases, while the barangays of Sta. Ana, Ususan, Pinagsama, South Daang Hari, South Signal, and Western Bicutan had one each.
A total of 1,643 have recovered, or 89.48 percent, and 26 have died, leaving 167 active cases in the city.
