From 1977 to 2014, Legends was known as the Expanded Universe and, as confirmed by Lucasfilm creatives of the time, it was the official Star Wars timeline, tying directly into the main saga films via printed media, video games, TV shows, and even spinoff films.
9 The Empire’s Successor State Is At War With The New Republic In Legends, the Empire endured its Emperor’s demise at the Battle of Endor, fracturing into warlord factions before being reunified as the Dark Empire and later the Imperial Remnant. No matter what form the Empire took, it was at war with the New Republic for 15 years before the two factions made peace with the signing of the Pellaeon–Gavrisom Treaty.
7 Luke Established A New Generation of Jedi One of the most satisfying elements of Legends lore is Luke Skywalker’s New Jedi Order. In the years following Return of the Jedi, Luke continued to grow and mature through failures and victories, and eventually established a successor to the Jedi Order of the prequels. This Jedi Order eschewed the outdated and harmful practices of its predecessor, resulting in a far more balanced and effective definition of Jedi Knighthood.
4 Luke Skywalker’s New Force Ability & Death Luke Skywalker practiced numerous advanced Force abilities as he aged in the Legends continuity, with Force projection being one example. Luke also eventually passes away sometime before the events of the Star Wars: Legacy comics. The sequel trilogy includes both Force projection and the demise of Luke Skywalker, tying the two together during the Battle of Crait.
