Here are 7 highlights from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies held Friday November 3 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
CLEVELAND, Ohio— The 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductions at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York has been a star-studded affair with plenty of highlights. Here are nearly a dozen of them:
· Laura Dern inducting Sheryl Crow as a “an all-around badass goddess rock star” was quite a hit parade. Crow’s speech that followed was lovely, heartfelt: “This is a little bit like getting an Oscar for a screenplay you have not finished writing,” she said, thanking her parents for unconditional love and “piano lessons.”
· George Michael being inducted by the ever-dapper Andrew Ridgeley, his former musical partner in Wham! · New Edition performing an abbreviated set of hits by The Spinners—”I’ll Be Around,” “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love” and “Rubber Band Man”—made me want to see a whole show of it. With a “Soul Train Revue” opener. Someone better be on the phone trying to make that tour happen. If they’re not, what are they waiting for?
