Ten protesters will face misdemeanor charges in connection with a May 15 pro-Palestinian protest at UCI that police declared an unlawful assembly, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.

The demonstration at UCI came during a wave of protests at college campuses across the country related to the Israel-Hamas war. “The right to peaceful assembly is a constitutional right and we encourage to exercise their right to peaceful assembly on any issue,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said in a statement.
