Connor Swindells and Olivia Holt sit near each other with Santa costumes on in Jingle Bell Heist.

Knowing how beloved holiday films are, every network and streamer loves delivering early Christmas gifts with an array of new offerings each year. At this point, with so many stories being told over the decades, any story is going to be a new story.

You just need a fresh set of performers to bring the holiday joy. This year, Netflix's big Christmas film is Jingle Bell Heist. In the latest entry to the holiday rom-com list, Jingle Bell Heist follows strangers Sophie Arbus and Nick O'Connor as they join up to rob one of London's most famous department stores, both to seek revenge on the owner and overcome financial difficulties, and in the process accidentally fall in love. With a holly jolly backdrop, this caper comedy is likely to get you to search out more holiday rom-coms with a crime involved. We're here to stuff your stockings with ten great options that will bring holiday cheer, with some major thrills on the side. 1 'Holiday Heist' At some point, we'll reach the threshold of holiday adjectives and descriptors that can be used before we run out of Christmas heist film titles. Until then, let's discuss the 2019 film titled Holiday Heist. In this romantic holiday tale, Devin has recently been released from prison and gets a job at a struggling family-owned jewelry store, but it's only to scope out his next robbery. Unfortunately, he winds up falling for the owner's daughter, Jade Holiday . Devin does everything he can to save the store, the Holiday family, and his newfound love. Nothing screams holiday romance like almost robbing a jewelry store, but its premise served as a cute BET holiday film. A cute story with a twist, Holiday Heist is a perfect stocking stuffer that is a little bit darker than some other holiday films, but still light enough to keep the romance ahead of the crime caper. 2 'Reindeer Games' Let's minimize the sickly sweet for a moment for a high-stakes action thriller, Reindeer Games. The new millennium film follows Rudy Duncan , an ex-convict who assumes his deceased cellmate's identity just to meet up with his pen pal, Ashley Mercer . However, Rudy is soon forced into a casino heist by Ashley's violent brother, Gabriel"Monster" Mercer , who believes Rudy has inside knowledge of the casino from Nick's past work. Rudy must bluff his way through the robbery, targeting a casino in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, pretending to be Nick to avoid being killed, while also trying to survive the complicated and dangerous heist. A gritty Hollywood blockbuster, Reindeer Games is a twisty holiday thriller that packs a punch. With a snowy setting, the action is hot here. Becoming a Christmas cult classic, it's quite fun to go back in time and see Affleck and Theron in their earlier careers in this fast-paced thriller. While it's much more violent than Jingle Bell Heist, it is a heist movie nevertheless. 3 'The Santa Stakeout' Nothing is better than spending your holidays on a stakeout! As long as you’re having fun along the way. In Hallmark's The Santa Stakeout, after a string of heists taking place during high-profile holiday parties around town, police detective Tanya Morris is reluctantly partnered with fellow detective Ryan Anderson to solve a recent string of heists. Posing undercover as newlyweds, moving into the vacant house next to Mr. Miller , the jovial chair of the community’s Christmas committee… and the prime suspect in the case. As they partake in the holiday happenings to keep up appearances and crack the case, their cover story as a couple in love starts to become reality. If you're looking for a sickly sweet heist movie that is unafraid of being unabashedly silly, this one's for you. Mowry-Housley and Campbell have impeccable chemistry. Obviously, it's a Hallmark holiday film, so we knew they would get together, but the dynamic is undeniable. Now, be warned, they did it for their job, but morality is out the window. But hey, it's all for a little Christmas love! 4 'Catch Me If You Claus' Who doesn't love a little misunderstanding that leads to a little love? It's time for a Hallmark holiday classic: Catch Me If You Claus! After living in the shadows of her national treasure of a newscaster mom, Sophie Ashburn , aspiring newscaster Avery Quinn is on the verge of her big break. But then she catches a home intruder wearing a red suit claiming to be Chris , the himbo son of Santa, insisting he was on his first mission. Together, they unravel a career-making story as they attempt to catch the Santa Crook, who has been orchestrating a number of local robberies. Part rom-com, part crime caper, all Christmas charm, Catch Me If You Claus is a silly good time. Between Macfarlane's earnest and frankly charming performance and Ricci's ability to stay grounded amongst the comic capers, their ability to play likable nepo babies allows you to appreciate their desire to find their own spotlight. Catch Me If You Charm is an easy watch that may turn into a holiday tradition. Punny title aside, this film is a lot of fun and deserves to be in the pantheon of Hallmark holiday films. 5 'A Christmas Mystery' A modern holiday classic for the kids, A Christmas Mystery follows Violet Pierce , who leads a group of intrepid kids after her best friend's dad is falsely accused of stealing the town's prized jingle bells. The group set out to solve the case of a town's stolen Christmas treasure in this charming family caper full of spunk, spirit, and sass. A feel-good holiday film, A Christmas Mystery is a comfort watch with a sweet mission. Perhaps a film that can empower children to do the right thing, watching the sleuths in action to save Christmas and Kenny's dad is nothing short of wholesome. With a delightful young ensemble on top of a cast that includes Oscar Nuñez, Eddie Cibrian, and Beau Bridges, A Christmas Mystery is fun for the whole family. Add this one to the nice list. 6 'A Holiday Heist' Though there may be other women who believe they deserve the title, the true TV Christmas Queen is the adorable and gleeful Lacey Chabert. I don't make the rules; her resume does. Among the many Christmas titles to her name is the zany 2011 film A Holiday Heist. Led by Chabert and Vivica A. Fox, A Holiday Heist follows a group of college students who stay at school over Christmas to work at a special exhibit in the college's fine art gallery. When they decide to hold an unplanned Christmas Eve dinner in the gallery, they stumble onto a trio of bumbling thugs planning a holiday heist of the exhibit. If you think this is a Chabert–Hallmark collaboration, it is anything but. Imagine Home Alone with adults. The college students get caught up with thieves who are anything but good at their craft. If you're a fan of Chris Kattan, he's as silly as always. A truly funny flick, A Holiday Heist is a lightweight comedy that exudes the joy of friendship. 7 'Operation Christmas Drop' There are so many romantic Christmas films that finding a new entry may be hard, so sometimes, you pull from reality! Such was the case for Operation Christmas Drop. Loosely based on the real-life U.S. Air Force Operation Christmas Drop humanitarian mission, the Netflix film follows congressional aide Erica , who is sent to shut down a military base in Guam. While there, she clashes with a pilot, Captain Andrew Jantz , who is part of a real-life humanitarian mission to airlift supplies to remote islands. As the two work together on the annual"Christmas Drop," they develop a romance, and Erica learns the true value of the operation. A true holiday miracle, the military-tinged Christmas romance is the gift that keeps on giving. A film that's destined to get you into the Christmas spirit, Operation Christmas Drop finds its charm through its leads. Graham and Ludwig have delightful chemistry. Plus, the always fantastic Virginia Madsen adds some oomph as Congresswoman Bradford. Certainly not a groundbreaking film, Operation Christmas Drop's success is thanks in part to its unique story, which sets it apart from other romantic films for the holidays. 8 'Home Alone' Let's say it all together: KEVIN! One of the most iconic holiday films of all time, Home Alone tells the story of eight-year-old Kevin McCallister , who defends his Chicago house from hapless home invaders, Harry and Marv , when his family accidentally leaves him behind on their Christmas vacation to Paris. A hilarious film directed by Christopher Columbus, Kevin lived out all of our childhood fantasies: being home alone and also beating the bad guys in glorious fashion. Passed down for generations, Home Alone is a Christmas classic layered in nostalgia. The comedy is a holiday crime caper in which the heist goes royally wrong. The main trio does a sensational job at playing and going full force into the physical comedy. And, of course, Catherine O'Hara maintained her status as mother. Though, as someone who has reached a certain age, the reality that O'Hara was 36 surely makes me feel quite old. A true period piece, Home Alone likely would never be possible today because of Ring cameras and the fact that an eight-year-old would likely have an iPhone to call his mom asap. 9 'Jingle All the Way' In the '80s, Arnold Schwarzenegger was an action star. In the '90s, he took the action but made it family friendly. Such was the case in the 1996 Christmas comedy Jingle All the Way. The hilarious film follows rival dads, Howard Langston and Myron Larabee , as they desperately try to purchase the popular Turbo Man action figure for their respective sons on a last-minute shopping spree on Christmas Eve. Inspired by real-life adventures to snatch the last major holiday gifts, Jingle All the Way was comedic action set to turbo. With family fun at the forefront, Jingle All the Way is a light and frothy slapstick with a holiday flair. As formulaic as it is, Jingle All the Way has a nostalgic feel that brings us back to a time when you had to show up to shop as the comforts of home shopping were merely a twinkle in the internet’s eye. Schwarzenegger lets loose and has a ton of fun. As long as he's in on the joke, we have the freedom to laugh all the way through. Jingle All the Way is a jingle bell rock. 10 'Die Hard' OK, let the debate begin. Is Die Hard a Christmas movie? Well, if you asked my dad, it's a year-round movie based on how often he has watched it, but many fans consider it a Christmas movie. And thus, we must include it here. The Bruce Willis vehicle follows New York City Detective John McClane as he becomes entangled in a terrorist takeover of a Los Angeles skyscraper while visiting his estranged wife during a Christmas Eve party. The jump start of a franchise, the first Die Hard film screams Christmas crime thriller. The film has an immense legacy, one that's grown over time. Alan Rickman's Hans Gruber is not only one of the best villains on screen, but a complete and total Grinch. The action is non-stop in this film, and the adrenaline rush never slows down. Though Die Hard may not be a romantic crime comedy, Die Hard is just too much of a classic that could not be left off this list. And to be clear, there are Christmas tidings on screen, so it does qualify as a Christmas movie. Debate settled. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good fall… like Hans Gruber. Like Follow Followed Die Hard R Action Thriller Release Date July 15, 1988 Runtime 132 minutes Director John McTiernan Writers Jeb Stuart, Steven E. de Souza Cast See All Producers Joel Silver Genres Action, Thriller Main Genre Action Website https://www.foxmovies.com/movies/die-hard Franchise Die Hard Sequel Live Free or Die Hard, Die Hard With a Vengeance, Die Hard 2, A Good Day to Die Hard Cinematographer Jan de Bont Producer Lawrence Gordon, Joel Silver Production Company Silver Pictures, Twentieth Century Fox, Gordon Company Budget $28 million Executive Producer Charles Gordon Powered by Expand Collapse
