10 of the most underrated anime on Hulu.
When there are hundreds upon hundreds of anime series being available on a streaming service like Hulu, it's easy for some underrated anime series to slip between the cracks. For any number of reasons, it's possible for a show to not get the recognition it deserves, but to still have plenty of qualities that might appeal to fans en masse. And some of these shows have been around for nearly twenty years.
9 Gangsta. Set in Ergastulum, a city rife with crime, Gangsta. follows two mercenaries-for-hire by the name of Worick and Nic who work with a newly-hired woman named Alex Benedetto. The story explores the developing relationships between the recently-hired Alex and the two "Handymen" mercenaries as she begins to learn more about them and the viewers, more about the society they live in.
7 The Deer King The Deer King is a stunning film directed by Masashi Ando, a former Studio Ghibli Alumnus, that's based on a novel series by Nahoko Uehashi. The premise involves the adventures of Van, a former warrior, and Yuna, a young girl Van saved after they were both bitten by the mysterious disease-carrying Ossam dogs where they were imprisoned. As survivors, they become sought after by various bodies as the possible means for discovering a cure for Black Wolf Fever.
The manga and subsequent anime spawned the release of a live-action film of the series as well as a video game and novels based off of Mashiro and Takagi's eventual works. Viewers found the series to be an insightful peek at the world of manga creation and an ultimately lighthearted story, which might come as a surprise to some, considering it's written by the original author of the popular series Death Note.
