Roughly 40.3 million people in the U.S. had a substance use disorder, or SUD, in 2020. Yet, only 1.4% of those people received any treatment in the past year.

To investigate the most commonly cited reasons for not seeking treatment for substance use disorder, Zinnia Health reviewed data from the 2020 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, collected by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Could handle the problem without treatment #3. Might cause neighbors/community to have negative opinion #2. Did not find a program that offered the type of treatment wanted #1.
