Jane and her twin brother Alec were tormented and nearly burned to death by humans because of the powers they displayed. However, Aro had been following them for some time because of their potential and saved them both from execution.
By fleshing out Angela, the Twilight show can illustrate more of what Bella is giving up and create a real dilemma for her. Additionally, treating Angela as an important character even if she is not involved at all in the supernatural ongoings will add some weight to the story, showing how humanity exists in a world that includes the supernatural but that their lives are still important.
