The crash took place on the NJ Turnpike in Elizabeth, causing major traffic delays Tuesday morning.
Traffic is backed up for miles on the New Jersey Turnpike on Tuesday morning after an NJ Transit bus collided with a cement truck in Elizabeth, injuring 10 people on board the bus, officials said.
The crash injured the bus driver and nine passengers, NJ Transit officials said. None of the injuries were considered to be life-threatening, officials said. The No. 139 bus was en route to the Port Authority in New York when the crash took place at about 7:35 a.m. The other 23 passengers were picked up by another bus to resume their trip.
NJ Transit said State Police are leading the investigation into the crash. State Police didn’t immediately respond to a request for information. Northbound traffic is snarled back past Exit 12 in Carteret, more than four miles away as of 9 a.m., according to
