After a week of baking heat, the clouds are now rolling in
The Met Office has issued a 10-hour thunderstorm warning for Lancashire after a week of baking heat across the county.
Clouds are expected to roll in tomorrow afternoon , bringing disruption and the potential for flooding in several areas. Members of the public are advised to take caution when out and about. The yellow warning will be in place from 2pm through to 11.59pm. It covers the whole of the county although higher areas are expected to receive the worst of the weather.According to the forecaster, the flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly. There is also the potential for damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.
Those on public transport should expect delays and disruption where flooding or lightning strikes occur. For drivers, spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult road conditions and some closures Some communities might become cut off if roads flood. Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lostA spokesperson for the forecaster said: "An area of thunderstorms is expected to develop over parts of England and Wales on Sunday then move north and northeast into Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland. Some large areas of rain are likely but many parts will see modest rainfall amounts.
