Including a tease for an increasingly tense friendship could have seen the pair’s friendship eventually destroyed, enabling Ned Leeds to become the villainous Hobgoblin as he does in the comics. Though the scene simply showed the pair disagreeing, it added an element to their relationship that was missing from the finished film. As such, had the scene survived, it could have hugely impacted the pair’s future and laid the foundations for Ned’s villain turn.
The franchise’s timeline had to be revised in one of the MCU’s biggest retcons to avoid timeline issues, and the Triskelion would only have made this worse. Homecoming’s original “Eight years later” title card would have confirmed that the clean-up had been ongoing for around six years, with practically no visible progress having been made.
The scene shows Spider-Man making headlines in Germany after rescuing multiple people in public. Clearly depicting a level of international renown before Far From Home saw Spider-Man once again visit Europe would have had an impact on the sequel’s story, as he would have been instantly recognized. Though the deleted scene is largely comedic in nature, it could have changed the tone of Spider-Man’s MCU future.
