This 10-carat pink diamond could fetch $25 million:

Sotheby’s says this gem is rare in size, quality and color. Only one percent of all pink diamonds graded by the Gemological Institute of America are larger than 10 carats. In addition, fewer than four percent of all pink diamonds are considered “fancy vivid,” which is a measure of its strength of color. It’s the highest rating in the GIA fancy colored diamond scale.
The sale also includes several fancy colored gems, signed jewels, creations with unique provenance and statement jadeite pieces. Among the highlights are a ruby mounted by Raymond Yard, a 19th Century 37.29-carat Burmese sapphire and diamond brooch previously owned by Elizabeth Taylor, an important jadeite beaded necklace and a selection of pieces by prestigious jewelers that include Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Harry Winston.
The 11.88 carat ruby and diamond ring, mounted by Raymond Yard has an estimate of $5.6 - $8.2 million The Burmese ruby’s “pigeon-blood” red color, high clarity and brilliance, and fine proportion, all contribute to the overall beauty of the jewel, the auction house said. Sotheby's The 19th Century diamond Brooch featuring a 37.29-carat sapphire was given by Richard Burton to Elizabeth Taylor during their marriage. The auction house said that Taylor had initially spotted the brooch on a magazine cover, and Burton purchased it as a surprise. The brooch stands as one of Elizabeth Taylor’s prized antique jewels. Its estimate is $1.7 - $2.3 million.
