Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is finally here, premiering its first episode and kicking off the next chapter of Mayor Fisk's war with Matt Murdock's Daredevil. Packed with cool references, ties to the Netflix era, and more, the new MCU show features some really cool nods and Easter eggs right off the bat.
Following an epic premiere with new battle lines being drawn in New York, here are 10 of the biggest Easter eggs, callbacks, and references we found in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 1. Mayor Fisk's New York: Born Again Posters Campaign posters across the city are shown with the slogan “New York: Born Again”. This connects to Mayor Fisk's vision for the city's rebirth via his Safer Streets initiative and his brutal Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Naturally, it also connects to both the Disney+ show's title and the comic book storyline of the same name. Daredevil's Double D Logo Finally Debuts It's been 13 years since the first Daredevil season on Netflix. However, it's only now with Daredevil: Born Again season 2 that we finally have a Daredevil costume in the MCU with the classic double-locking Ds logo on the chest from the original comics. A major milestone has finally been achieved. Likewise, the logo looks incredibly good with Matt's new suit, which has been spray-painted black. "Give Her A Call" - Jessica Jones? Matt talks with Karen about the sinking of The Northern Star in Mayor Fisk's free port known as Red Hook, and that the ship was full of high-grade weapons and military hardware. Naturally, Murdock wants to know who Mayor Fisk is working with and who the weapons were meant for, so he tells Karen to"give her a call." Karen Page's connection is more than likely Jessica Jones , who we know will be making an appearance at some point in the series. Given her history as a private investigator, she's bound to be a major help to Daredevil's resistance efforts . A Favor At Metro-General In the same scene with Daredevil: Born Again season 2's potential Jessica Jones reference, Karen asks Matt if she needs to call a favor at Metro-General to get him some stitches. Similarly, this is more than likely a reference to Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple aka Night Nurse. In the Netflix era of Marvel shows, Claire worked at Metro-General during the day, while helping patch up various vigilantes during her off hours. Seeing as how she made multiple appearances across the various Netflix Defenders shows, a future appearance in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 would make perfect sense, especially given Dawson's ongoing history with Disney playing live-action Ahsoka Tano in the Star Wars galaxy. Thunderbolts* Director de Fontaine Shortly after Matthew Lillard's new MCU character walks into Mayor Fisk's office,"Mr. Charles" reveals that he's from Langley with the CIA. Likewise, there's even a phone call from none other than CIA Director and OXE Group CEO Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who apparently vouches for Charles' involvement/access on the other line. Having been featured in past MCU shows and movies, and most recently Thunderbolts*, Val clearly has a lot of pull with the US government. Additionally, Val being the one behind Mr. Charles makes perfect sense, especially if they're both connected to The Northern Star's cargo for the sake of the government's darker, off-books operations. Red Kitchen Codename While messaging with former NYPD Detective Cherry, we see that Matt's codename on his phone is"Red Kitchen" to make their contacts seem like dinner reservations. Naturally, it's a dual reference to Murdock's traditional red Daredevil costume and Hell's Kitchen, the original New York borough where he first started his vigilante career in the MCU. New AVTF Uniforms Daredevil: Born Again season 2 features more official uniforms and armor for Fisk's Ant-Vigilante Task Force, including new logos that feature The Punisher's logo, calling back to the multiple members of Fisk's task force who idolize Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle . Ben Urich Journalist BB Urich wants to bring Mayor Fisk down for murdering her uncle, a horrific event that happened in Netflix's Daredevil season 1. Karen tells BB that Ben died because of her, and she doesn't want to see her get hurt too, warning BB to be careful as she's secretly working with Page as a source close to Mayor Fisk's administration. Likewise, we do see a brief shot of Ben Urich in the show itself. Daredevil's "Borderline Psychotic Sensei" Watching Matt train on a dummy with impressive speed, Karen asks him how he manages to do it. Matt responds that years of training with a"borderline psychotic sensei" definitely helps. This is a reference to Stick, who served as Matt's mentor and teacher in the Netflix era. Helping Matt use his enhanced senses to more than make up for his blindness, Stick's goal was to prepare Matt for war against The Hand, the sinister ninja cult that is surprisingly making an MCU comeback as seen in the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. "You're Welcome" - Some Surprising Help From Bullseye When Cherry and Matt are attacked by the AVTF at the end of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, episode 1, Cherry suffers a heart attack. This keeps Matt distracted and unbalanced, allowing the officers to overpower and even unmask Daredevil. However, each of the AVTF officers is almost instantly killed via lethally precise shots from outside Cherry's apartment. Then, a knife is thrown into the room, ricocheting off the walls and landing right in front of Matt's face. If it wasn't obvious, the knife is engraved with the words"You're Welcome" and an all-too-familiar crosshair logo. Daredevil's savior is none other than Wilson Bethel's Bullseye, who escaped in the chaos of Born Again's season 1's final episodes. Apparently, it seems as though Bullseye has a new agenda all his own this season, one that apparently doesn't involve Daredevil getting arrested and/or killed by Fisk's men. 481 9.0/10 9/10 Daredevil: Born Again 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed TV-MA Drama Crime Action Sci-Fi Adventure Superhero Release Date March 4, 2025 Network Disney+ Showrunner Dario Scardapane Directors Aaron Moorhead, Justin Benson, David Boyd, Jeffrey Nachmanoff Writers Jesse Wigutow, Jill Blankenship, Thomas Wong, David Feige, Grainne Godfree Cast See All Franchise Daredevil, Marvel Cinematic Universe Creator Matt Corman, Chris Ord, Dario Scardapane Powered by Expand Collapse
