The charming, off-beat film was the follow-up effort from Superbad director Greg Mottola and deals with similar themes of averting the demands of impending adulthood and the uncertainty of adolescence.
6 American Graffiti The summertime movie American Graffiti was George Lucas' claim to fame before Star Wars completely took over his career and legacy. American Graffiti features a young Harrison Ford and Ron Howard as two of a group of California teens who spend one final night together in their hometown.
3 The Graduate The Graduate is another quintessential coming-of-age story that couldn't be made in any other season but summer. Fresh off his college graduation, Ben is in no rush to get the rest of his life started, choosing to lounge in his parents' swimming pool to catch a tan rather than focusing on getting a job.
