Police are investigating after authorities say a 1-year-old was stabbed outside of a synagogue in Center City. The child is in stable condition.

It happened just after noon Saturday on the 300 block of South 18th Street outside Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel synagogue.The child was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where he is listed in stable condition, according to police.In a statement to Action News, the synagogue said the stabbing was not an antisemitic attack and that none of the parties involved in the incident were connected to the synagogue.
Synagogue officials went on to say that an individual, who is known to police, was experiencing a mental health crisis and the stabbing has been linked to another incident that took place several blocks away.
