As people reflect on the tragedy where eight were killed, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders grapple with the continued increase in hate incidents.
But as people reflect on the somber tragedy, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are still grappling with the fact that anti-Asian hate incidents have only increased.Major cities across the country held community remembrance events on Saturday. A larger “Justice for Asian Women” rally will be held in Atlanta, with similar rallies occurring in New York, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Dallas, Houston, Detroit and the Twin Cities.
The rallies, created by the Asian Justice Movement, are meant to remember the victims of the massacre and “break the silence” on anti-Asian hate that continues to wreak havoc on the community, especially for women of Asian descent. Activists and fellow members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community reflected on the grief, anger and fear thatDaoyou Feng, Hyun Jung Grant, Suncha Kim, Paul Andre Michels, Soon Chung Park, Xiaojie Tan, Delaina Ashley Yaun and Yong Ae Yue.
