One person died Thursday in an early morning fire that broke out in a unit at an East Anchorage mobile home park, Anchorage fire officials say.
A fire in a mobile home in the Glencaren Court mobile home park claimed the life of one person early Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022.
Someone in the next unit called 911 just after 4:30 a.m. to report the fire and say there might be people still inside, Anchorage Fire Department assistant chief Alex Boyd said. The department said the fire was in the area of 2221 Muldoon Road, an address that corresponds to the Glencaren Court mobile home park.
The first responders to arrive found about half the manufactured home was on fire, with heavy smoke throughout, the fire department said in a statement. “Aggressive fire suppression operations and immediate search for the victim located one occupant in the home who was deceased,” the department said.
Investigators were still trying to establish the origin and cause of the fire Thursday afternoon, Boyd said. Fifteen AFD units responded.Fire officials reminded the public to make sure smoke alarms are in good working order and that residents and family members are updated on home escape plans.
